Memorial to Jimmy Love

Anyone who is born into this world with the surname Love has a high standard placed on them.  However, if you are christened James Milton Love, then you not only reach those standards, but exceed them.   To Jimmy, the noble surname given to him at birth was much more than a genealogical marker, it was the principle that animated and guided his life.  Jimmy’s legendary love of faith, family and friends also extended to the communities in which he lived.  This love led Jimmie to work with others to establish Providence Home of The Family Emergency Teen Shelter, with the stated mission to provide short-term and safe shelter to Brunswick County youth who, due to an emergency, high-risk or crisis situation, cannot remain with their families.  Established in 1997, Providence Home was the first and remains today as the only shelter for youth, ages 10-17, who are in need of temporary out-of-home care.  All services are provided without cost to residents or their families.

Each year, Providence Home conducts a fundraiser to honor the life and legacy of Providence Home’s founder, James  Milton “Jimmy” Love.  We thank all who do contribute to this effort and urge others to join us in sharing our love.
